Welcome to PARA wrestling. We are excited to offer this opportunity again this year.
PARA wrestling is offered to 1st - 5th grade students.
Wrestling teaches teamwork, resilience, accountability, self-discipline, and other important life skills. Wrestling teaches our youth about the values of working hard, the importance of setting goals, and working hard to achieve those goals. Like life, youth wrestling teaches kids that you get out of it what you put in.
When is the Season?
Typically, the season will run late October through February/March, depending on skill level.
What equipment will be needed?
PARA provides singlet. There are optional two piece uniforms that can be purchased with coach's approval. Athletes are responsible for wrestling shoes and head gear.
Typically, practice is held 2-3 days a week in the Parkwood high School wrestling room and field house.
Do I need experience?
No previous experience is necessary. All rules and basics will be taught at practice.
Who can wrestle?
There are divisions for girls and boys of all ages and sizes depending on the tournament. Tournaments will be chosen accordingly to line up with our team.
Where and who do we wrestle?
Locally with other schools during the week. We will compete in optional tournaments on the weekends that may require travel.
What are the other costs?
PARA registration is $100. Some tournaments "may" require AAU membership or USAW membership. Athletes are also responsible for their entry fees, which are typically $20-25 per tournament.
